Aloha and Mahalo to all of your who support our mission. A special shout out to our volunteers, the lifeblood of our operation! A lot is going on... Read More
I'd like to share my amazing experience of what it's like to be part of the Hale Kau Kau team.
Not just a charitable organization, but a network of committed people, members of our Kihei community who have dedicated literally - years of their lives - to the service of others, and the betterment of our lives - the Hale Kau Kau Ohana is truly an eclectic group filled with diversity yet held together by one unbreakable bond.
What is this "bond" I hear you ask - a question easy to answer. This bond is the peace that is found internally when one serves others without hope of gain, without the desire to be known - simply because it feels good to help.
Over and over I have interviewed our volunteer staff - some of whom have been with the program for more than 15 years and ask them - why do you continue? The answer is always the same: "helping others makes me happy"...and what more does man seek than happiness at the end of each day.
If you have ever thought of volunteering, or dedicating yourself to helping others - paying it forward, or simply finding a good group of like minded to socialize with, I encourage you to visit our Volunteer sign up on this site. You'll get a phone call within 24 hours, and an opportunity to decide how you can join our family, be it helping in the kitchen, driving for our homebound, helping organize our endless paper work, or serve in one of the many fundraising events that come up throughout the season.
Now is the time to act! Our immediate needs include:
You may be an individual, a family, a school, or a charitible organization; whoever you are, we are looking to collaborate, expand, enhance, and share our experiences with you. With Aloha,
The HKK Program Director and Chief Fundraiser, Dr. Mary Trotto bid you "welcome"
